To the writer, this seemed like a question with no correct answer since the question needs to be modified by the writer's situation, but to me, a sample of AP composition essays for college is a valid answer.My answer may have been influenced by my experience in college and how writing is taught, so if you are a person who learned to write without practice and then made it to college by using samples from the professor, then I suggest that you use them to write for yourself. One advantage is the one you get a second chance for mistakes. You can correct a mistake quickly if you used a good example from a good resource. For instance, if you wrote a bad essay in class, you can make corrections immediately from the assignment with no fear of being found out.It does make sense, though, that taking a sample would be more beneficial than working with a sample or two, but in terms of what the professor provides, there really is no comparison. At some point, I simply stopped caring. I either did my own writing or had a friend do it for me. I guess it was too frustrating to really worry about the words as much as the structure, which is a good thing. After a few years of having no problem with writing as long as it was used in good fashion, I think I realized that the only way to learn how to write well is to write.So what is good with writing? It comes down to study and practice. I don't mean just studying the language, but building good sentences and a good structure. Writing has to come from the heart and is a skill that builds over time. A good writing teacher will help you in the areas of how to write more effectively for the student and how to write in different situations.A good writing teacher will also help you be come self-conscious. This is something that happens naturally in writing and can be a bit overwhelming. You will become more aware of your mistakes and the lines between writing and talking becomes very fine.When you have a good composition teacher, you won't need samples at all. In fact, you can use as many examples as you want to get the job done. The teacher will encourage you to think about what type of writing you want to do and when, so that you will know when you are doing too much or not enough.Of course, you won't get it all done in one year. You will need to write regularly, including every day of the year. You also need to practice at least four times a week. The whole idea is to get writing habits down and to build the muscle over time.Now that you are armed with this information, it should be easy to figure out how to write a great essay. Of course, this depends on how much you want to work with writing, because the only way to become good at it is to write everyday and write on a regular basis. However, even if you don't want to write, just getting out there and using writing samples is a good idea. They provide motivation to get writing done and they will be of great help to your future professors.
